Cryptosporidium is a microscopic coccidian parasite that is widely found in many vertebrates, mainly in microscopic cryptosporidium. The life history of cryptosporidium has five developmental stages: trophozoite, schizonts, gametophyte, conidia, and oocyst, of which the oocyst is the infective stage.
Cryptosporidiosis, a zoonotic protozoan disease, has a predominantly diarrheal clinical presentation. Infected animals and humans are the main source of infection, and their feces contain infective oocysts, which can cause epidemics by contaminating water and food.

Service Details
Sample type: the tissues of experimental animals or feces of infected individuals
Culture medium: human colon cancer cells (Caco-2), bovine oviductal epithelial cells. Cystic conidia can proliferate, but less than in animal intestinal cultures, and can be used to study host cell-pathogen interactions and drug screening.
